Collages of Pics by Picasa

This is one super imposed shot, so don’t be astonished to see the para glider in front of the Church. I am not very sure how it is looking, but I really enjoyed playing with collages.

Making Collages is now very easy using software. I use Picasa and the following steps will show how easy it is. Download Picasa, a standard Google product.

Select pictures with which you want to make the collage picture and click the Collage button as shown in the above picture.

Now you have 4 options.
1) Picture Pile – The picture will look like this one.
2) Picture Grid - The picture will look like the last pic of this post, of my university.
3) Contact Sheet - The picture will look like this one and this one.
4) Multi-Exposure - The picture will look like this one, this one , this one and the next picture below.
You can save it to the current folder or in a special folder.

The following one is created using Contact Sheet option. I found it extremely interesting, you also can try.

Quite instructive for new users to Picassa...

Using the multi exposure option you can create HDR images - that is shots of the same subject (that is keeping the same composition), taken at different exposures and then merged together.

Good info ... but i have seen collages created with flickr (grid form ones) and i liked those better than the contact sheet. Since I have not done either of these myself, I am really not very sure if my perception is true.

Ooooh, and I am afraid I am not able to appreciate the superimposed pictures too much ... may be I am very simple minded and confused with the overload of information ;-)

I am not sure I want to try collages as am yet to learn good photography.
There is something mystifying about these pictures and I fall short of words to describe what this mysterious feeling I get. Pijush, good to hear that you are enjoying it. :)

I liked this post very much. Very informative.. step by step. That's what I wanted.
Now I know I can download Picassa sometime which I was wary of till now.

And the multi exposure pictures are excellent !!
Keep showing us these things. Thanks.

@Ananda, Thanks for such an innovative idea, I will try once.

@Sigma, you are quite simple, I was not sure how these pics are looking. Thanks for the honest feedback. Flickr is good, but will not give you so many options, so you can try once. Keep Coming.

@Celine, Thanks for such a lovely comment. There is something mystifying about these pictures - Yes I do feel the same, its not normal and that’s why I am enjoying. Stay Well.

@Cuckoo, I am glad you liked it, yes Picasa is really good. You can try and ask me anything about it, I am a master now :-)
Thanks for liking the multi exposure one. This type of pic one can like or dislike but cant ignore it. Take care.

Well, I did try picasa (or rather two features, to be precise). Though you are very right that it offers a lot of features. In general I do not like flickr (I am not sure if you saw the post I made about having to move from yahoo photos to flickr).
The one picasa feature I loved was photo upload for blogs. Earlier I used to pianstakingly upload photos one by one, and then had to reverse the order, since blogger pastes the latest photo at the top of the post.
The other one was collage, I tried a grid-type collage, and I liked the result.
The big disadvatage I find is that as soon as you launch it, it starts cataloging all the photos on the disc. And the other one is that it does not work on non-windows systems.

You are right Sigma. Blog upload is very easy, sending mail as well.

I read your post on Yahoo photos. I don’t like Yahoo, at least after using such fabulous products of Google. In this post I had written about Google . Recently I switched to Google readers and using Orkut and Google pages as well.

The big disadvantage I find is that as soon as you launch it, it starts cataloging all the photos on the disc. And the other one is that it does not work on non-windows systems - I guess first one is useful and second one was not known to me – So you use DOS/UNIX/Macintosh also ? –true system engineer :-)
